- Harassment & Bullying: No personal attacks, threats, or targeted harassment
- Hate Speech: No content promoting violence, discrimination, or hatred based on race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics
- Violence & Threats: No content promoting violence, self-harm, or threats against individuals or groups
- Misinformation: No spreading of false information, conspiracy theories, or unverified claims
- Spam & Scams: No unsolicited advertising, pyramid schemes, or fraudulent content
- Inappropriate Content: No explicit sexual content, graphic violence, or adult material
- Privacy Violations: No sharing of personal information without consent
- Impersonation: No pretending to be someone else or creating fake accounts
- Illegal Activities: No content promoting illegal activities or substances
- Manipulation: No coordinated inauthentic behavior or manipulation of community discussions
Content Standards
Posts & Comments
- Keep content relevant to your community and audience
- Use clear, respectful language
- Fact-check information before sharing
- Respect copyright and intellectual property rights
- Include appropriate content warnings for sensitive topics
Images & Media
- Only share images you have permission to use
- Respect others' privacy in photos and videos
- No graphic or disturbing content
- Include alt text for accessibility when possible
Community Management
- Community leaders should actively moderate their communities
- Set clear expectations for community members
- Address conflicts fairly and promptly
- Lead by example with respectful behavior
🚨 How to Report Violations
If you encounter content or behavior that violates these guidelines:
- In-App Reporting: Use the "Report" button on any post, comment, or user profile
- Email Reporting: Send detailed reports to moderation@joinroots.app
- Include Details: Provide specific information about the violation and context
- Stay Safe: Don't engage with harmful content - report it instead
⚖️ Consequences for Violations
We take violations seriously and may take the following actions:
- Content Removal: Remove posts, comments, or media that violate guidelines
- Temporary Suspension: Suspend accounts for 24 hours to 30 days
- Permanent Ban: Permanently ban accounts for severe or repeated violations
- Community Restrictions: Limit access to certain features or communities
- Legal Action: Report serious violations to law enforcement when appropriate
Appeal Process
If you believe your content was removed or your account was suspended in error:
- Review these guidelines to understand the violation
- Email appeals@joinroots.app with your case
- Include your username, the specific action taken, and why you believe it was in error
- We will review your appeal within 5 business days
